10 Momentos de la Caverna

Arcade Fire Funeral Review – Published on December 17, 2010. A very difficult time, as my friend Xicuris had just passed away. I wrote it the week after his death; it wasn't selected intentionally, but rather as a way to close out the year. In a way, it comforted me and helped me get over it, one of those gifts music gives you.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Reviews – The first three being SUCH bad albums and having to resort to seasonal sitcoms to say something about them, since there was no other way to deal with these monsters… and Mother's Milk because of how emotional it was and what the shock of Slovak's death represented, forcing them to grow up and take themselves more seriously.

July 1, 2011 – When I tried to access The Cavern on Blogspot, I found a notice that it was closed due to a DMCA complaint from Metallica.

Review of The Who's Tommy – Published on September 7, 2011. After migrating all the material to websites and completing 27 missing intros in just over two months, Tommy was the first new review on the new site. The outro, with its political and religious connotations, was unexpected, even for me.

Review of The Beatles' Abbey Road – Published on December 31, 2013, it is perhaps the most personal review, of the album that means the most to me.

Review of Metallica's Master of Puppets – Published on April 5, 2012, it was the first Metallica review after my first website was shut down because of them. It was a challenge because I had to force myself to be as objective as possible, considering the album's size. ...And Justice for All was also a challenge due to the death of Cliff Burton.

The Intros by Charly García, Jethro Tull, and 10cc – Published on March 4, 10, and 12, 2014. After somewhat selfishly resisting and pondering for quite some time, I decided to ask for help, as the site was overwhelming me not only in terms of time to write and update, but also in terms of artists and genres I wasn't familiar with. The decision about who to invite was relatively quick once I decided to do it, as I'd been following their respective blogs for a while, and fortunately all three accepted. These were the first posts not written by me, but by Homer, Marlaior, and El Hombre Mojón, who agreed to enrich The Cavern with their musical knowledge, and to whom I am extremely grateful.

The Intros to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr – Published simultaneously on June 16, 2017, these were the posts with which we inaugurated the new Wix site, which I'd been working on moving since January. With them, we finally separated the ex-Beatles, and I had the opportunity to detail, from each of their perspectives, splicing together the story of the Beatles, which was left short in its own Intro. The four Intros were written in less than a week, as I realized I only had another 15 days before the Webs shutdown.

Review of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band – Published on January 11, 2009. My son had just been born on December 26. On January 5, I took him to meet my grandfather, since my firstborn was the fourth generation with the same name. My grandfather began to feel weak that day, and I almost had to carry him to the kitchen so he could meet his great-grandson. The next day he went for tests and was diagnosed with cancer. It was devastating. He spent his last moments in the hospital telling visitors about his great-grandson, who had the same name as him. I wrote and published this review in one sitting, all night, after the funeral.

Review of Pink Floyd's Live at Pompeii – Published on July 18, 2012, this review took me by surprise and was more like writing a short story, with a story that overwhelms you at a certain point. I hadn't planned its allegory with the eruption of Vesuvius, but as I began to write, I remembered the writings of Pliny, and the keys took over, creating something totally different from what I had planned. It remains my favorite review I've ever written, the most surreal, and I think, the most original.
